Wakefield Recovery and Wellbeing College

The Wakefield Recovery and Wellbeing College offers free courses and workshops to help people improve their mental health, physical wellbeing and confidence. Sessions are welcoming, inclusive and delivered by professionals alongside people with lived experience.

You don’t need a diagnosis or to live in Wakefield to take part.

Opening times

  • Monday - Friday : 8:00 am - 4:00 pm
Closed weekends and bank holidays.

Age range

• Anyone aged 16 or over.
• Open to everyone, wherever you live.
• Free to attend.

What we don't offer

• Crisis support.
• Clinical mental health treatment or therapy.
• One-to-one support.
• Ongoing weekly support groups.
• Formal qualifications or accredited courses.

Accessibility information for service

The Recovery College aims to make learning accessible for everyone and can offer:

  • A welcome appointment to discuss any support you may need.
  • Telephone, video or face-to-face appointments.
  • Interpreter and translation services.
  • Hearing loop facilities.
  • Flexible adjustments to help you take part.

Waiting times & timescales

After you enrol, the team will usually contact you within 1–5 working days to arrange a short welcome appointment and help you book your courses. Most courses are available straight away, although some popular sessions may have a waiting list.

Self-enrolment (self-referral).
You can enrol online or ask a friend, family member or professional to help you complete the form. If you don’t have internet access or need support with reading or writing, the team can help you enrol over the phone.
